Today I’d like to talk about Barbara, my client that when we met, neither her nor I thought that we would end up working for almost a year together…

Barbara reached out to me about six months ago after she heard about Deals with Dignity through her social worker. Her father was in a nursing home and when she found out that he could no longer go back home because of his health condition, one of the questions that came to her mind was taking care of his real estate situation.
You see Barbara lives in Nebraska with her husband, kids, and grandchildren, where she moved from Miami about 30 years ago. So when it came to handling her father’s real estate situation she didn’t know where to start. That’s when she reached out to the social worker at his nursing home for guidance. When the social worker heard about Barbara’s problem of having to take care of her father’s home expenses ( insurance, property taxes, utilities, maintenance, etc.), she contacted me @DealsWithDignity to walk her through the process of selling her father’s home fast.
The first thing we did was set up a free phone consultation to talk about her father’s home situation and created and exit plan.
The second step we took was to go and evaluate the house and its condition. Now, in cases where the client does not live in South Florida, we offer a full concierge service where we can coordinate the process of getting the house keys from whoever has them, in this case, it was her father’s caregiver.
Although I did explain to her our concierge service, she felt better coming to Miami and meeting in person to show me the house, so we set up an appointment to meet in three weeks. I could tell that what she really wanted was to meet me and see for her self if she could trust in our services. I’m glad that we were able to meet in person because we instantly hit it off! When we met and I gave her a fair cash offer on her father’s home and she felt so good about our services that we signed the contract right away!

So we are 2 weeks into the transaction and we were getting ready to close. When 24 hours before the closing Barbara gives me a call and lets me know that her father had PASSED AWAY the night before! It was so heartbreaking for Barbara and I really felt for her especially because she was an only child and her mother had already passed. At that moment nothing mattered more than to just be there for this amazing woman emotionally and support her through the heartache of losing a father.
Unfortunately, now Barbara had new problems… New questions started to arise. One of them ” What the in the world was she going to do with her father’s home knowing that bills are going to start piling up, taxes, insurance etc..” She needed help finding a way out of this situation, so she turned to me for help. When Barbara and I got on a call again to make a game plan. It was time for her to start the probate process in order to inherit her father’s assets which included the property. I referred her to Deals with Dignity’s trusted probate attorney and we are now in the court probate process.
It feels great to be able to help Barbara through the passing of her father and be able to hold her hand through the process of inheriting her father’s property. As of this time, we are not done with the probate yet but the plan is that as soon as she is legally able to sell the property, we will buy her home for cash
